Mariah Carey joins 'American Idol' as new judge

Mariah Carey will join American Idol as a judge next season, Fox announced on Monday, replacing Jennifer Lopez for season 12 which starts in January. She tweeted a statement saying "It's gonna be so much fun working on @AmericanIdol. As a singer-songwriter, I'm excited to help find and nurture new talent."

Other celebrities also used twitter to send messages to her; "Welcome to the fam @MariahCarey!!," Ryan Seacrest wrote,"When u and @nickcannon need a date night, I'm happy to strap on the double baby bjorn."

According to the latest ranking of the top 100 universities in Africa by 4icu.org in its '2012 World University Web Ranking: Top 100 Universities and Colleges in Africa' , the best university in Nigeria and 16th in Africa is the University Of Lagos. The other Nigerian Universities that made the list are: University of Ilorin (39), University of Ibadan (40), Obafemi Awolowo University (42), University of Benin (45), University of Port Harcourt (52), University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (64), Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria (84) and University of Jos (88).

Man behind the colorado shooting identified

The man behind the mass shooting at a theatre in Colorado has been identified as 24 year old James Holmes. Officers found the gunman near a car behind the theatre.

In 'Unprofessional' news, Tonto Dikeh calls Ini Edo 'Old Cargo'on twitter.

Tonto Dikeh, on Friday, sent a subliminal tweet (sub-tweet) to fellow actress Ini Edo via her twitter account. The tweet read  “Itz Another nomination(THE FUTURE AWARDZ)*Hopefully d nolywood old desperate Cargo’z will not. Pay Engr 2increaze their votez diz time#SHAME".

In 2011, Ini Edo had allegedly manipulated votes for an award she was nominated for.

12 killed, 50 injured in Colorado shooting.. Stars react.

Dozens of people were either killed or injured at a crowded movie theatre in Aurora, Colorado on Friday morning. A gunman was said to have opened fire on the people that were gathered inside the theater to watch ''The dark knight rises", the much anticipated Batman sequel. The suspect, a man born in 1987, has been taken into custody but no name has been released.

American celebrities woke up to the news of the Colorado shooting and have been expressing their sorrow on twitter.

Eva Longoria tweeted : "My heart goes out to all the people affected in the Aurora, CO shooting. May God be with that town and their families... "

Billy Ray Cyrus also tweeted : "Oh no ! Just woke up and turned on the news "14 dead 50 hurt in Batman movie shooting". Praying for victims. So sorry and sad."
